Translation:

To Emperor Caesar Augustus, son of Augustus, father of the country, chief priest (at Rome).

Commentary:

l. 1. See also ILS 151. Tiberius never accepted the praenomen Imperator or the title pater patriae. The inscription was perhaps cut immediately after the death of Augustus, before his deification and before the proper titles of the new emperor were known.
